Everybody in the Place - a film by Jeremy Deller.

This is well worth a watch, like dance music (yes!) or hate it, insightful and relevant.

Dundee.

We went to Dundee. An interesting city, in the middle of a development process. Walk away from the tourist areas though and the usual city stuff is there in abundance, rubbish housing, a creaking infrastructure etc. These days I find cities an uncomfortable environment, depressing, especially the run-down areas where there doesn't seem much hope of anything positive happening for people. Not everyone wants change, I know that.

I quite like poking about noticing things (for a short time).

It is quite hard to understand why a wire shopping basket with just a packet of kiwi fruit should be left in front of this graffiti.

Tourist area, art on boarding behind which something is going on. (Familiar dog..., the hound not impressed with the city.)

I'd been to the V&A previously, indeed to the Night Fever exhibition, but only to the free bit. This time we paid to go into the other bit. Older daughter and I went, someone had to look after the hound. This section is very much about club design, right up someone's street https://www.mollieforsyth.com/

Yes, it's a real Moog.

Back outside, on the waterfront.

A whole lotta love.

And soon enough it was time to come home. (This is a bit of a cheat, these pix were taken on the way out but hey-ho.)

Badbea a clearance village in Caithness. The language on the interpretive boards needs changing, it is far too sympathetic to the brutes who threw the people off the land. The SNP are being far too slow in the the process of returning land to the people in my view. Scotland's wealth built on slavery and brutality, truths too often conveniently forgotten.

Pix from the Hamnavoe on the way out, we came back on the Aberdeen ferry, mostly in the dark.

On the way out there had been loads of Harbour Porpoise, a likely Orca and a possible Minke (I missed that).

Earlier I had plenty to say.

Earlier I was listening to music from the late 90s (Everything But The Girl), it took me back, inexactly. On my fortieth birthday we had a party and I slept out, and was fiercly bitten by West Yorkshire midges.

In Withens Clough, May 2004.

I'm not quite sure, yet, of the purpose of this blog. Exploring earlier photography, a bit of writing, saying something about the things I like and don't, reflections on a life, we'll see as we go on.
